A station upgrade occurred in December 2002. The old MRI nephelometer was replaced with a TSI 3-wavelength nephelometer with forward and backward scattering measurement capabilities. As before, a TSI 3760 CN counter is being used to acquire CN concentration data. An aethalometer has run sporadically at SPO since 1987. In late 2017, a CLAP was added to measure aerosol absorption.
